Biography
Hot Rod Walt" aka Walt Richards, was born in 1966. Lived the first half of his life in the very rural town of Beemerville New Jersey. Moved to North Port Florida in 1989. In 2006,moved to the Atlanta area where the band really started to take root. Not only does he play guitar and sing in the Psycho-DeVilles, but works on custom cars and motorcycles, does hand pinstriping and really just about anything you can imagine on a car or bike. He even has hand pinstriped 342 official special edition "Hot Rod Walt" Gretsch Guitars. But over 500 in total. He also has a pretty cool car collection that includes a few chopped 51 mercs, a 32 Ford roadster And a 34 coupe the famed "Yellow Jacket" and several more..... And....he has a very cool wife named Sharlene.
Hot Rod Walt and the Psycho DeVilles was formed in 2002. They have released 10 CDs... "Out of the garage and onto the street", "Psycho Cadillac", "Supercharger", "Night Prowler", "Rockabilly Rodeo", "Country Gold", "Rock N Roll Life", "Motor Honey", "Swingin' On the Moon", and "Rumble Road". A new album is written and ready for studio time !
There are several facets of HRW's musical being. The Psycho-DeVilles, Hot Rod Walt Solo, Hot Rod Walt Duo, Hot Rod Walt Trio, and Fenton Sparrow.
He also takes great pride in being endorsed by Gretsch Guitars........ Nothing else compares.
Hot Rod Walt shares the stage with three talented and loyal musicians......Burford T Ogletree on the Upright bass, Steve "Burnout" Barnett the hard hittin' punk rock drummer that never runs out of energy, and Dave Olsen a dyed in the wool real deal rockabilly guitar player.
Together the Psycho-DeVilles perform a super high energy show. Singing songs about hot rod cars, mean women and having a good time !
The Psycho-DeVilles had the pleasure of being a part of many TV shows.
In 2010 "Auction Kings" on Discovery Channel. Where Hot Rod Walt auctioned off his Pink 1960 Cadillac.
Also in 2010 "Cafe' Racer" on Discovery HDTheater/velocity, where they brought him a custom built Cafe Racer motorcycle to test ride and build a story on the band.
In 2011 They sent HRW off to the famous Hawleywoods Barbershop for a story on the Pompadour.
In 2012 they made and featured a Music video of there song "Ton UP".
In 2013 The Psycho-DeVilles were featured as the "Tennesee Three" in the Lifetime Movie "Ring of Fire" with Jewel and Matt Ross as Johnny Cash and June Carter.
in 2016 were featured in the TV show "Caffeine and Octane" on Velocity Channel, Following Hot Rod Walt doing a flame job on a 50 Mercury and then live performance from the band.
In 2017 Hot Rod Walt was a host on Caffeine and Octane.
Hot Rod Walt has also been a part in many TV show and major motion pictures.
The Psycho-DeVilles have toured 9 countries on 4 continents and 228 cities extensively and have been privileged to meet many fine and generous people, and have shared the stage with some of the absolute best musicians.
Hot Rod Walt is also a founding member of Florida's.... Slick Riddle and Acoustic boulevard
